How a folding case is built

About this print

Real tortoiseshell has depth — the colour sits at different levels in the resin. Reproduced flat, it looks like a stain. This one is built in layers so the amber appears to be underneath the umber, which is what your eye expects from a frame.

Drawn for the iPhone Duo and laid out per half, so the hinge is part of the composition rather than something the pattern has to survive.
