Does the fold cut through the graphic print?
On Wavelength it crosses it on purpose — one continuous line that meets at the hinge. Eclipse sits its disc entirely on one half. The repeating prints carry across without a break.
Is Constellation an accurate star chart?
It is taken from an eighteenth-century celestial atlas, where constellations were drawn as figures over the stars. It is accurate to that atlas, which is not quite the same as accurate to the sky.
Which graphic print is quietest?
Eclipse. One disc, a thin crescent of light on one edge, and ground everywhere else. It is the most graphic thing in the range and the easiest to live with.
Do these work on the Clear shell?
Wavelength and Eclipse do, because both are mostly empty and the transparency becomes part of the drawing. Toile does not; a dense hatched print on a transparent ground loses the white that the hatching is read against.

This is the family for prints that are drawings rather than patterns. Some of them repeat and some do not, and what they have in common is that each one is a made object with a method behind it.
Sun Print is an actual cyanotype: ferns laid on paper coated with iron salts and left in the sun for twenty minutes. The white is where the leaf was. The blue is chemistry rather than a colour choice, which is why every cyanotype ever made is the same blue.
One line, two halves
Wavelength is a single unbroken line drawn in one pass, turning at the edges and never crossing itself. Because it is one line, the two halves of the case carry one continuous drawing that meets at the hinge.
It is the clearest demonstration of something true about every print in the range: a case for a folding phone is two moulded parts, and whether that reads as one object or as two depends entirely on what is drawn on it.
Toile without the halftone
Toile de Jouy is printed in one colour on white, and all of its tone comes from engraved hatching — thousands of drawn lines, closer together where the image is darker. Screen a photograph to imitate it and the dots break up at this size.
Toile here is drawn as hatching, which is why it holds at fifteen centimetres. It is the most detailed thing in the range and the only one that rewards looking at closely.
