The problem
Why a one-piece case doesn’t work.
Most phone cases are a single moulded shell. That works on a phone that stays one shape, but the iPhone Duo folds in half, so one shell would have to bend exactly where the phone needs to move.
That creates three requirements for any iPhone Duo case: it has to be made in two parts, nothing can cross the hinge, and both halves need the same thickness so the phone closes evenly. The first thing to check is whether a case was designed specifically for a folding phone.
In detail
What that means for the case
Each detail follows from the way the iPhone Duo opens, closes and charges.
-
Two halves
Each half is moulded separately, snaps on separately and moves with its own side of the phone. Nothing crosses the hinge, so the phone opens and closes freely.
-
It closes evenly
Both halves are the same thickness, so the phone closes evenly instead of being pushed apart at the hinge.
-
The magnets line up
The built-in magnets line up with the phone’s own, so chargers, wallets and mounts snap into the right position.
-
A raised camera edge
A raised edge runs the full width of the camera bar and keeps the lenses off flat surfaces.
-
Precise cutouts
Every opening is positioned for easy access to the side button, volume keys, speakers and USB-C port.
-
Textured sides
Textured sides add grip without hiding the titanium frame’s design.

Two parts, one phone
Designed for the Duo from the start.
Each half is moulded for its own side of the iPhone Duo, around the camera bar, the buttons and the hinge edge.
Questions
Will a case stop the phone folding flat?
No. The case is made in two separate halves, so nothing crosses the hinge. The phone closes just as it does without a case.
Does the case cover the hinge?
No. The hinge is designed to move freely, so both halves stop short of it and leave it uncovered.
Does MagSafe work through it?
Yes. MagSafe and Qi2 charging work through the case, and its built-in magnets line up with the phone’s own, so chargers and wallets snap into the right place.
How much thickness does it add?
We’ll publish the exact thickness once we’ve measured final production samples. We’d rather give you a verified measurement than a figure from a design file.
Will a case for another iPhone fit the Duo?
No. The iPhone Duo folds and has a different shape, so it needs a two-piece case made specifically for it.
What happens to the cover screen?
It stays fully usable. The front half frames the cover screen and leaves the glass and its edges clear, including the swipe gestures that start at the edge.
